Congrats :)

Congrats, Eldarwen! She just posted her 150th blog post. Why don't you head over and congratulate her? She's having a music contest of sorts that you can enter while you're over there. And her blog is awesome anyway :)

Speaking of awesome blogs, you should check out some of the blogs on my left sidebar as well.

Short Answers

If you want to participate, you can link up HERE:

Where does popcorn come from?

R: Um. Bird Poop. Exploding bird poop. From the extreme heat of the desert.
J: Uh. Stores.
M: Corn kernels.

If you had to decide between eating brownies all day or going to the park all day, what would you choose?

R: Going to park.
J: Going to the park, because then I would throw up from eating too much brownies.
M: Which park?
Me: Just any park.
M: The park. Because I don't want to get sick. Because the park's more fun.

What’s your favorite movie and why?

R: Don't have one cuz I like them all.
J: I like all of them. I don't have a favorite.
M: Monsters vs. Aliens because it's awesome. Wait, no. Veggietales!!

What exactly is it that an author does?

R: Um. Uses a gallon of ink a day. Or something...
J: What's an author?
Somebody that writes books.
J: Oh. They poop their pants. (I'm sorry, that's what he said. That's my weird little brother for you :P)
M: Tired all day. From writing.

If you could look just like anybody, who would it be?

R: Me, myself and I. But not Michael Jackson.
J: Me, myself and I.
M: You. Without the pimples on your face. My big sister that loves me so much named Ashley.

Okay, nice answer, but did you have to mention my acne? I know I have zits, so stop telling me that. Anywho...

Let's try this again...

My charries are busy getting ready for NaNo (only 12 more hours!!!!), so I'll see if I can get a blog post written without interuption.

Nicole: Ashley, what are you doing?

Me: Nothing... just keep cleaning. I won't be able to start writing later tonight if I have to clean up your guys' mess. Tell Erynion that he needs to start throwing his soda cans away.

Erynion: Hey, it wasn't me!

Rhovanion: *in an innocent voice* It wasn't me...

Me: Well, whoever it was, start picking your trash up. And leave me alone so I can get back to my blogging. Oops....

Erynion: Oooh, you're blogging again? Cool, I wanna see!

Me: No. Now be good or you'll have to wait until tomorrow for me to start writing.

Erynion: You're mean.

Me: Do you want me to kill you off early? I was considering letting you live, and not kill you off in the book, but if you aren't going to listen--

Erynion: No, don't do that! I'll leave! I swear!

Me: Good. Now all of you get back to cleaning.

Rhovanion: Yes ma'am.

Me: I don't like being called ma'am...

Rhovanion: Sorry.

Me: I never would have thought you were a trouble-maker, but maybe I was wrong. You still haven't left yet.

Rhovanion: *leaves*

Me: You too, Nicole.

Nicole: Fine. *leaves*

Me: Ahh... now where was I...? Oh well, it doesn't matter. Only 12 hours til NaNo!! Whoo-hoo!!!

Okay, so today we're talking about Halloween. Before I tell you what it is, here are the links to the other girls' blogs:

Okay, so for those who don't know the origins of Halloween, here is a short, basic history (quoted from Equip.org -- http://www.equip.org/hank_speaks_outs/halloween) If you look the background of Halloween, it's rooted in the ancient Celtic feast of Samhain. The Druids believed that on the eve of Samhain the veil between the present world and the world beyond was pierced, releasing demons, witches, and hobgoblins en mass to harass the living. In order to make themselves immune from attack people would disguise themselves as witches, devils, and ghouls to attempt to ward off evil spirits. They would also carve grotesque-looking faces on gourds illuminated with candles, and they would try to placate the spirits with a variety of treats

So it's evident that Halloween is evil. The good thing is that there are alternatives. Some people have other parties, and different things at church, and some just like to dress up whether they celebrate Halloween or not. You don't have to celebrate Halloween, but in the end, it depends on whether or not you think it's something God would be okay with you doing. Although when you know what it really is....

Tag!

Rules, list 12 fictional characters, from books, movies, or TV shows. Then answer the questions below...

1. Aragorn
2. Edmund Pevensie
3. Adam Winslow
4. Gandalf the Grey
5. Radagast the Brown
6. Eol
7. Feanor
8. Aslan
9. Saruman
10. Legolas (I'm trying not to name a ton of LOTR charries, but I'm running out of ideas)
11. Susan Pevensie
12. Prince Caspian X

1. Who would make a better college prof, 6 or 11?
Susan... Eol isn't that kind....

2. Do you think 2 is cute? How cute?
Edmund? Hmm... idk

3. 12 sends 8 out on a mission. What is it? Does it succeed?
Caspian sending Aslan on a mission? Of course it would succeed, but why isn't Caspian doing something for Aslan instead?

4. What is or would be 9's favorite book?
Saruman would probably not read anything... but you never know.

5. Would it make more sense for 2 to swear fealty to 6, or the other way around?
I doubt one would swear fealty to the other... Edmund is a king of Narnia, and Eol is a Dark Elf (or something like that... I haven't read that book in a while)

6. For some reason, 5 is looking for a roommate. Should (s)he share a studio apartment with 9 or 10?
Radagast might be more likely to share a apartment with Saruman, since they are both Maia (sp?), but he'd be better off with Legolas. Saruman is evil.

7. 2, 7, and 12 have dinner together. Where do they go, and what do they discuss?
They probably go to Cair Paravel and wonder why there's an evil Elf in Narnia.

8. 3 challenges 10 to a duel. What happens?
I'd say Adam would win, no matter how awesome Elves are.

9. If 1 stole 8's most precious possession, how would she/he get it back?
I think if Aslan roared, Aragorn would give whatever it was he stole back.

10. Suggest a title for a story in which 7 and 12 both attain what they most desire.
Hmm... well, Feanor and Caspian both rule a kingdom so... I'm not sure

11. What kind of plot device would you use if you wanted 4 and 1 to work together?
They already do work together. To make sure Frodo destroys the Ring.

12. If 7 visited you for the weekend, how would you get along?
Okay, I guess... I just need to not mention anything about traitors....

13. If you could command 3 to perform any one task or service for you, what would it be?
I have no idea.

14. Does anyone on your friends list write or draw 11?
nope

15. If 2 had to choose sides between 4 and 5, which would it be?
I have no idea if Edmund would choose Radagast or Gandalf.

16. What might 10 shout while charging into battle?
not sure....

17. If you chose a song to represent 8, which song would you choose?
not sure

18. 1, 6, and 12 are having dinner at a Chinese restaurant. There is only one scallion pancake left, and they all reach for it at the same time. Who gets to eat it?
Eol would probably be faster

19. What might be a good pick-up line for 2 to use on 10?
How about none. That would be awkward...

20. What would 5 most likely be arrested for?
For unknowingly helping Saruman capture Gandalf

21. If 11 and 9 were racing to a destination, who would get there first?
Susan

22. If you had to walk home through a bad neighborhood late at night, would you feel safer in the company of 7 or 8?
Not sure... probably Aslan, but he's a lion, so....

NaNo Charries

Okay, now that Nicole was kind enough to untie me, I'll introduce my charries. And for those I may confuse, "charries" is short for "characters".

Nicole: Hi, I'm Turwaithel, and I'm wondering why Ashley decided to call me Nicole...

Me: Because that's your name...

Nicole: No it isn't. I'm an Elf, remember?

Me: Your spoiling the plot. You aren't supposed to know that yet.

Nicole: Oh. Oops.

Erynion: Hey. I'm Erynion. I'm an Elf too, and a darn handsome one at that.

Nicole: * mimics Erynion* And a darn self-centered one at that...

Me: Ssshhh. He'll figure it out eventually.

Nicole: Maybe he won't think he's so great if I scar his face up a little...

Me: Nicole! I don't want to hear any more of that. You'll have your chance later.

Nicole: I'll be reminding you of that later.

Me: I'm sure you will...

Rhovanion: I'm Rhovanion, as you can tell from reading this... And I'm a Dark Elf. But we're not evil like people think we are.

Erynion: Silence, you vile creature.

Nicole: Can I PLEASE hurt him?

Me: No.

Nicole: *ignores me and kicks Erynion in the shin* Don't say another word.

Me: I thought I said to stop fighting.

Nicole: You also said we never listen to you.

Erynion: That is true.

Nicole: Stop agreeing with me!

Me: *clears throat*

Nicole: *pulls out duct tape*

Me: You traitor! *gets mouth taped shut*

Nicole: Now that our author is tied up, will you please excuse me for a moment? *punches Erynion in face*

Rhovanion: Since when are you this violent?

Nicole: Who said I'm violent?

Rhovanion: You just punched him in the face for no reason. He has a right to talk, you know.

Erynion: He's right. It's a free country.

Nicole: I think I'm beginning to like this thing Ashley calls duct tape...

Erynion: You wouldn't do that, would you? You're kidding, right?

Nicole: No, of course I wouldn't. That would be too kind.

Rhovanion: I, uh, think I'll shut down this blog post before things get too violent.

Giveaway!

Y'all go enter Melian's giveaway. You have been commanded.

NaNo Survival Kit

Yeah, I usually don't copy people, but I decided I'll make a list of stuff I'll be using for NaNo... everyone else is :P
Just kidding. Anywho...

1. God (where else am I going to get inspiration? And I can't do anything without Him anyway)
2. the laptop (no WAY am I writing this by hand)
3. my friends and family (Yay them. They get to listen to me ramble about how my charries won't cooperate... all month long! Aren't they lucky? ;) )
4. Facebook!! (Cuz you know EVERYONE wants to here how my Elves are rebelling :P)
5. Aaaand, that's it... My method is rather haphazard :P I let my charries do whatever they want as long as they listen to me enough that the story goes in the general direction I have planned out
6. I guess I should add my charries to this list. They can introduce themselves later. They're kind of hyped up on caffeine at the moment... which is funny, because I haven't had any caffeine today. And caffeine doesn't exist in their world... Hey guys, where did you get that? I told you that you aren't allowed to have any. *gets mouth duct taped shut* Mmfmmfff!

Hey, this is Turwaithel. Ashley is a bit tied up at the moment, so I'll finish her post for her. No, Erynion, you can't write anything right now! And stop trying--
Goodbye. I have to leave and restrain those two. I'll say hi later when Erynion isn't about to-- *grabs knife from Erynion*
Bye!

Your Top 6 (or just 6) of your favorite characters from a movie.

1. Jack Sparrow
2. The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything (yay Veggietales :P And yes, that answer counts)
3. Legolas Greenleaf
4. Edmund Pevensie
5. Prince Caspian X (and despite the last three answers, I am NOT a psycho obsessed fangirl. Read the books. I don't care who plays what character in the movie. They're good characters. That is all.)
6. Jojo (The mayor's son from Horton Hears A Who. I don't know why I like that kid... but he's a good character)

Whew, good thing I only had to name 6. I was running out of ideas :P But it was fun. If you want to participate, you can link up HERE. My internet is being slow, or I'd give you the direct link. Just go to the latest Quirky Thursday post.

Hyper-mode!!!!!

My brain is currently going into hyper-mode, and I can't wait for NaNo. I feel very creative lately, and can't wait to start writing stuff down. And apparently my charries have decided that they want to bug me lately. One of them is mad at me, and the ones from NaNo can't wait for me to start writing.
Yes, I is weird. But not in a creepy way or anything. I'm the good kind of weird. :P

Group Discussion 10-24-09

This week we are talking about movies. Any movies we would like to talk about. Here are the links to the rest of the group's blogs so you can see what they have to say :)

Okay, so I'm going to be a nerd and talk about The Lord of The Rings. Who would have thought? ;) These movies are some of my favorites because I really like fantasy stories. Bows and swords just seem really cool. I have nothing against guns, but these weapons just seem more courageous somehow. Maybe it's the fact that you have to get closer to your enemy to kill them. You can't hide behind anything if you want to get something done.
In these movies, Frodo has to take the ring to Mount Doom and destroy it. To me, this seems like life. Someone else messes up, and we have to fix things. God helps us get out of all the messes we find ourselves in.
But Frodo doesn't have to go alone. He has friends to help him, such as Samwise Gamgee. Sam helps Frodo throughout the entire story. Sam carries him when he can't go on, and he encourages him each step of the way as they travel. He never leaves Frodo, even when Frodo tries to run away. God does that for us, doesn't He? He helps us and guides us and doesn't give up on us. He carries us when we're weak.
There is a lot more that happens in the movie. All of it can teach us something if we really look at it.

J: Um. To look cool. 'Cause all superheroes do. Except Spiderman.

What's the hardest thing in the world to do?
J: I don't know... nothing.

Quirky Thursday!

When it snows for the first time that year, you know a good hard snow, that covers the ground, what do YOU do?

The first time it snows, it had better be enough to play in, because I'm going to bug my mom until she lets me go outside :)
After I spend a day outside, I'm going to sit in the house the rest of the winter, wishing the snow would go away. Except I hope it snows on Christmas... it's too weird without it :P
Although it's kind of neat to look at snow while I'm in the church van at Teen Con :D

NaNo 2009

I made a cover and banner today for this year's NaNoWriMo novel, called "A Forgotten Past". Here it is:

Synopsis: A Forgotten Past

Nicole is a normal girl... or is she? While taking a walk one day, she runs into a Elven girl... who looks just like her. The girl claims to be her twin sister, and says Nicole needs to come back to the forest with her. Who's going to believe the girl though? Nicole sure isn't.

Along with trying to remember who she really is, she faces the looming danger of the Dark Elves returning. They destroyed her people once before, leaving only a few alive, and they may be back any time. Nicole brings hope to her people, though. She knows One who can help them overcome anything. Her problem? No one will accept Him. They believe nature is the only thing that controls the world.

(Note: The One spoke of above is God, but the Elves don't believe in God. They believe that nature just has an order it follows (food chain and such), and that there is no one governing it. There is no right and wrong, in their minds, it is just a matter of opinion, and depends on the situation)

Group Discussion 10-17-09

So the idea is that a group of us girls are going to post each Saturday about a topic we choose. Here are the links to the other girls' blogs, so you can see what they had to say about the subject:

This week, the topic is relationships. Now, usually when people say something about a relationship, you think of dating (or at least I usually do). But there's actually more. You have relationships with your family, your friends, and most importantly, God.
This is my opinion on the matter. I don't know for sure what the other girls have planned, so you should check out what they have to say as well.
Our relationship with our family is very important. We have to live with them every day, so why have a strained relationship? God tells us to honor our father and mother. This means that we should obey them whether we like it or not, unless it is a direct violation of God's law. When we honor our parents, they're happier with us, and they'll trust you more. Honoring them is actually beneficial to you as well.
We are also told to love our neighbors as ourselves. This doesn't just mean to love people that live in the house next door. It means that every person we come in contact with, be it our friends, our siblings, people at church, or random strangers, should be able to see God's love shining through us.
Our relationship with our friends should be good as well. If we're constantly being mean to them and ignoring them, then they won't want to be our friends anymore, right? If you aren't the kind of person people want to spend time with, they won't hang out with you. If you constantly spread rumors about them, and you can't be trusted, chance are they'll find new friends who act like friends.
Our relationship with God is probably the most important of all. Believe me, if you don't spend time with God each day, praying and reading the Bible, it'll really take a toll on you. Satan knows that when you're far from God, it'll be easy for him to get you to do what he wants. When you aren't grounded in His word, it's easy for you to be pulled into things that aren't good for you.
Well, this was a bit shorter than some of the others may be, but it's my first time, so.... hopefully I'll have more to say later! :P

Heartache

My newest song. Enjoy!
___________________________

She’s searching for love
But all she finds
Are guys who use her
And waste her time
Will someone please tell her
How to fill
This empty space inside

Heartbreak, break-ups
It’s all she gets
When she gives herself away to another guy
There’s a hole in her heart
And she’s just trying to fill it
But all she finds is more
Heartache

She’s chasing yet another guy
She thinks he can
Give her the love she needs
But instead
She just gets hurt
She doesn’t know how to fill
This empty space inside

Heartbreak, break-ups
It’s all she gets
When she gives herself away to another guy
There’s a hole in her heart
And she’s just trying to fill it
But all she finds is more
Heartache

She needs God’s love
It’s the only thing that can fill
The hole in her heart
Could someone please tell her
She doesn’t have to take

More heartbreak, break-ups
Or anything else
When she gives herself away to the right guy
Jesus can fill the hole in her heart
And she won’t have to deal with any more
Heartache

Cute But Sad...

I read this the other day in a txt:

Girl: Slow down, I'm scared.
Guy: No, this is fun.
Girl: No it's not! Please it's too scary!
Guy: Then tell me you love me.
Girl: Fine I love you. Slow down!
Guy: Now give me a BIG hug!
Girl : *hugs him*
Guy: Can you take my helmet off and put it on yourself? It's bugging me.
Girl: Alright, now slow down
Guy: I love you babe
(in the paper the next day): A motorcycle had crashed into a building because of brake failure. Two people were on it, but only 1 had survived.
The truth was that halfway down the road, the guy realized that his brakes broke, but he didn't want to let the girl know. Instead, he had her say she loved him and felt her hug one last time, then he had her wear his helmet so that she would live even though it meant that he would die.

Haste Not, Rest Not

Here's a poem I had in school the other day.... I thought it was kind of interesting.
___________________________________________________________

Without haste! Without rest!
Bind the motto to thy breast;
Bear it with thee as a spell;
Storm or sunshine, guard it well!
Heed not flowers that round thee bloom,
Bear it onward to the tomb.

Haste no! Let no thoughtless deed
Mar for aye the spirit's speed!
Ponder well and knew the right,
Onward, then, with all thy might!
Haste not! Years can ne'er atone
For one reckless action done.

Rest not! Life is sweeping by,
Go and dare before you die.
Something mighty and sublime
Leave behind to conquer time!
Glorious 'tis to live for aye,
When these forms have passed away.

Haste not! Rest not! calmly wait;
Meekly bear the stones of fate!
Duty be thy polar guide--
Do the right whate'er betide!
Haste not! Rest not! Conflicts past,
God shall crown thy work at last.

Random...

Just something I wrote for school... I would have posted it sooner, but I just now got it off my zip drive.
______________________________________________________

The boy stood at the edge of the cliff. He looked at the other side, thinking about what he had learned so far. The gap was wide enough to jump, but only if he remembered what he had learned before now.
Every time he learned something new, he grew a bit bigger. He was taller and stronger now than he was when he first started. When he was very young, he didn't really have many challenges to face. He had to learn to work with others and help them. When he had learned that and grew a little more, he had started facing bigger tasks. He jumped bigger gaps, and grew stronger. He learned to let people help him.
As he grew older, the gaps grew wider. He faced deeper chasms, knowing that if he failed he would die. He remembered a time that he was especially afraid. The cliff was so high, he knew he would fall. He knew he was going to die, but no one could help him. Suddenly he saw a man standing on the other side of the chasm.
"Follow Me," the man said as he held out his hand.
"But I'm afraid. I can't jump this. I can't." A tear rolled down his face and he fell to his knees. Why was this man asking him to do something so hard? He couldn't do it.
"Stand up."
"I can't do this."
"Yes you can."
The boy stood up slowly and looked at the man again. He was still holding out his hand, beckoning for him to follow. The boy stared at the man for a moment, backed up, and ran towards the gap. As soon as his feet left the ground, he knew he wasn't going to make it.
Then he felt a strong hand holding his. He looked up, and the man was smiling at him. He felt himself being pulled to the ground.
"I did it. You were right."
"Yes, you did. But never forget who helped you. Don't be afraid to call on me. I'm always there for you. You don't have to face challenges alone."
The boy, now a young man, stood facing this impossible gap. He knew that even after he made it over this, there would be more challenges as he grew stronger. He took a deep breath.
"Help me," he whispered.
Then he jumped.

MLIA

These are hilarious!!

Today, I used a Facebook application that told me the statistics about my friends. It said that 60% of my friends are female and 38% are male. I'm still wondering about that 2%. MLIA

Today, our school had a pep rally, and we were playing our rivals. One person from our school and one person from the other school came out, and started to 'fight.' I wasn't interested until they pulled our lightsabers and ripped off their shirts. I am now attending every single pep rally. MLIA

Today, I really really really wanted an iced tea. I went to the vending machine, put in my $1.40, and pressed the button for iced tea. It was sold out. Very upset, I decided the next best (but vastly inferior) choice was orange soda. I sighed, pressed the orange soda button, and out came an iced tea. I have a great feeling about today. MLIA

Today I wasn't sure if my roommate was home or not, so instead of knocking on his door, I signed on to aim to see if he was home. He was, we then proceeded to talk for 20 minutes and met in the kitchen for pie. MLIA

Today, in Science class, we were learning about what happens when an animal dies. Instead of making us read the passage in our textbooks, our teacher put on the clip of Mufasa telling Simba about the circle of life. After, she put on the soundtrack to The Lion King while we did worksheets. New favorite teacher. MLIA.

Today, in Honors English, my teacher told us all to use MLIA format. Everyone laughed. She meant to say MLA, but I'll still be starting my paper with "today," and concluding it with "MLIA." MLIA

The other day, I saw a sign on a store that said, "Win a FREE Ride in a Police Car just by shoplifting from this store." Good advertising tactics. MLIA

My little brother is a really poor typist, and my mother's been trying to teach him to improve his skills for nearly a year. Today, she gave up on him, so I decided to step in. I helped him make his own Facebook account, and in the past two hours he's been on it, his typing has increased by 12 WPM. Success. MLIA

Quirky Thursday

I found this on another blog. Each Thursday, she posts a question for people to answer. This week the question was:

What is One of Your Favorite drinks, from a restaurant/Starbucks/a homemade drink/etc. etc?

That's easy.... Dr. Pepper. :D
